Custom Design

In addition to its many off the shelf products Hoyles Electronic Developments also offer a design service to the security and fire alarm industry. Many of these specialist designs are used in large complex projects or high profile prestige projects. Very often they are graphical site plans with mimic indication of alarm conditions. These can be linked to Security, CCTV or Fire Alarm systems.
We will work with yourselves and your clients to design a system that meets their exact needs in terms of functionality and appearance. It is often a requirement that equipment must blend with the surroundings and be unobtrusive. A variety of of finishes are available to cater for the most demanding clients.

Deluge Control Panel

The control panel opposite was designed for Cooper Menvier, one of the UK's leading fire alarm installation companies. Standard off-the-shelf equipment did not exist that would give the necessary range of functionality required by the client, a power station
Under certain conditions it had to be possible to rapidly deluge an area to quickly arrest the spread of fire. For both operational and safety reasons the process could not be entirely automatic.
Because of the high value and mission critical nature of the site any false activations had to be avoided at all costs. Bespoke software in PIC microcontrollers was used to achieve a reliable and simple to operate system.

Rack Mounted Indicator

This rack mounted unit was required by AEON Protection Systems Ltd of London for one of their blue chip clients. The client already had rack mounted equipment in situ and felt that their needs would best be met by utilising this existing racking rather than adding a conventional wall mounted panel.
The 3U rack unit was chosen to match the existing finish in use by other items already installed.
The photograph opposite shows the finished unit prior to despatch. The rack unit houses a standard MULTIGUARD repeater with individual pushbuttons for zone silence, reset and isolation.

Panic Attack Indicator

This wall mounted mimic indicator measured 400 x 300 (mm) and was fitted with LEDs in polished chrome bezels on an engraved white traffolyte facia. Eight LEDs were used to indicate personal attack and two were used for indicating disabled toilet alarms.

The use of a graphical layout gives at-a-glance indication to aid rapid response. With only two control buttons, SILENCE and RESET, the operation is intuitive resulting in little or no user training, an obvious advantage when temporary relief staff are frequently employed.

The indication was also repeated at two other location on look-alike panels with an identical mode of operation.
The main control uses standard MULTIGUARD electronics from the Hoyles range of equipment. An Integral power supply was included with capacity to power the repeaters and the equipment in the disabled toilets.
Although more expensive than using conventional off the shelf MULTIGUARDS the client's needs were met to the letter without compromise and with a system that was less intrusive. This particular system was surface mounted but the construction does lend itself to flush mounting and can be designed this way at no extra cost. The installing company was Initial Electronic Security.

CCTV Switching Indicator

This 24 zone indicator uses MULTIGUARD electronics for the indication and relay cards to provide voltage free outputs for each zone to control a CCTV switcher. A modified version of the standard MULTIGUARD software is used for CCTV switching. As soon as alarm condition is detected the relevant zone LED changes state. When the SILENCE button is pressed the relay restores to its normal position.
This type of indicator is the ideal interface between security detection devices and CCTV monitoring.

Flush Mounting Indicator

The photographs show a typical arrangement for a flush mounting indicator. The facia is engraved matt aluminium. It is oversized to enable the mounting box to be flush fitted into the wall.
The equipment uses MULTIGUARD electronics to provide 36 zones of alarm indication. In addition there was a requirement for door status indication for each zone provided by tricolour LEDs for each zone. A further requirement was to be able to isolate each zone. The zone pushbuttons have SILENCE, RESET & ISOLATE functions with a pre-select keyswitch.
In order to keep the size down the printed circuit boards are fitted in both the back box and on the reverse of the lid. The mounting back box is a 400 x 600 x 120 (mm) electrical equipment case with cable entry gland plates on each side.
The equipment was specified and installed by Applied Equipment Ltd. of Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Desk Mounted Indicators

The requirement was for two independent desk mounted consoles to monitor different systems. One system had to have both alarm and tamper conditions the other simply alarm conditions. The equipment shown was designed for Site Technology Ltd of Adu Dhabi in the U.A.E.
Both systems had to operate in a similar manner and there was also a requirement for lamp test. The operational requirement was met using standard Hoyles MULTIGUARD electronics.
An economical solution was provided by housing all the control equipment and power supply for both systems in the one enclosure. This layout enables the client to have a relatively small operating console on the desk with all the control logic and cable terminations housed in a different location. Removable zone identification labels were provided for engraving locally

Cell Call Systems

The control equipment illustrated here is finished in stainless steel and was specified for HMRC. The integrated system covered Cell Call, Personal Attack, Affray Alarm, Airlock Door Control, Van Dock Door Control and Interview Room Call System. Automatic communication with staff was accomplished with digital pagers to give location information without the intervention of any manned control.
The stainless steel fascia makes for a long lasting and durable finish to withstand the rigour of a harsh environment.
The whole project was designed and delivered complete with REDIPRESS affray alarm switch strips in 8 weeks.
